COVID-19

Here we go, we have a COVID-19 page now too.

Following advise from the Scottish Canoe Association (SCA), Mountaineering Scotland, the Scottish Government and the World Health Organisation (WHO) we have set up some rules for our trips and courses. We also saw the need to add some clauses to the terms and conditions to protect our customer’s interests and wellbeing as well as Unexplored Scotland itself.

Changes to T&C:

  1. The following conditions will overwrite any previous conditions.
  2. All summer tours are limited to 4 people.
  3. All winter courses are limited to 6 people.
  4. For extra safety on all courses and tours, Unexplored Scotland reserves the right to change the location of a booked event with 2 days notice before the start of the course/tour.
  5. We ask members showing cold or flu-like symptoms to inform Unexplored Scotland and not take part in the event.
  6. If any participant won’t be able to attend to any course/tour due to self-isolation, lockdown, travel restrictions or any other COVID19 related reasons the course/tour can be rescheduled till the end of 2022 without any extra costs.
  7. Re-scheduling has to be agreed with Unexplored Scotland.
  8. Unexplored Scotland is not able to give a refund due to COVID19 related issues.
  9. Participants of any tour or course are responsible to bring their own face coverings and hand sanitisers.

I would like to point out that Unexplored Scotland is just a one-man-band. It has been a hard year for any outdoor business as it is and in most cases, we are all strapped for money.

Please only book on a course or trip if you are sure that you can accept those terms and conditions. Currently, the government support is limited and I won’t be able to refund people if a course or trip is not going ahead. I will however always honour a payment and will be more than happy to reschedule.

We always make sure to clean all equipment between our trips and courses. However, should you be concerned about your own health and wellbeing we would advise you to bring your own equipment as much as possible.

Travel Insurance

We strongly advise people booking on courses for 2020 and into early 2021 to get a “Superior Travel Insurance” that covers cancellations due to COVID19 government advise. Currently, the following insurers offer cover in case of travel restrictions due to lockdown or government advise.

AXA Direct Travel Insurance

Halifax – URCA Travel Insurance

Transportation

We will not be able to give anyone a lift to a starting or finish point. We would like to ask people to have their own transport.

Camping

When out on wild camping trips (mostly sea kayaking) food and utensils may be provided by us. All plates, mugs and cutlery are colour coded and people are advised to stick with one colour for the duration of the trip. Tents will only be shared with people from the same household. We will also bring some disinfectant spray and cloth with us to clean certain equipment if necessary.
