Skye Explorer – 3 Days Sea Kayaking

From: £335.00

3-day sea kayaking Skye tour with wild camping along the coast of the island or the surrounding area. This trip is ideal for intermediate kayakers.

The sea kayaking Skye Explorer trip is a journey taking a small group for 3 days along the Skye coast. At very good weather conditions a circumnavigation of Raasay and Rona is also possible. The meeting point for the tour is at Kyeleakin, from there, the tour could take us anywhere along the island or the surrounding coastline. After packing the sea kayaks the group will set off to paddle. The first day will take the group along the coast of the Isle of Skye and along the beautiful rocky cliffs along its coast. There will also be the possibility to spot some porpoises. Because of the sheltered position of the east coast of Skye you can quite often see these sea mammals. What the group will do on the second day depends on the weather, so that we can stay flexible.

Both the west and east coast of Skye have some amazing coastlines with sea cliffs, small islands and a lot of caves. You also might be lucky and see some wildlife of the area like seals, otters, sea eagles and porpoises.

Sea Kayaking Skye Tour

The food we provide is mostly fresh because we like to make sure that every aspect of the sea kayaking tour is enjoyable. With a good weather forecast, we also offer a barbecue. Every morning we offer freshly made cappuccino or loose leaf tea. We can also make egg rolls or you can have a more simple breakfast if you choose so. The last day should be a little shorted with no more than 20km to paddle and should make our way back to Sconser in a manageable time.

On our 3-day sea kayaking journey, we will always go wild camping somewhere along the coast in or near the Isle of Skye.

* Almost all outdoor providers in Scotland would only offer plastic sea kayaks. These are not nearly as nice to paddle and tend to have less room to make the trip more comfortable.

** Our paddles are a selection from Werner, Lendal and Palm.

*** All our buoyancy aids are tested every year. We provide Ortlieb 13L drybags and compression dry bags for sleeping bags.

**** All sleeping mats are Therm a Rest NeoAir XTherm or Venture inflatable mats.

***** We offer the use of a selection of Lumix and Fiji waterproof cameras.

  1. John P

Andreas provides a very good service with top quality kayaks and camping kit. High winds prevented planned excursion but relocated to Plockton for three days kayaking and two nights camping. Memorable visit to beautiful area of highlands even though lots of rain and not much sun! He is an experienced instructor with safety as number one priority, easy to get along with and a very efficient provider of hot meals!
