Had a wee wander up towards Coire An T-Sneachda. It is great to see a good snow cover this early in the season. Thinking of recent winters, this would have to be the best start we had in about 8 years. It was pretty hard going because all the snow was still very powdery and unconsolidated. I managed to sink into my knees frequently, so it was pretty hard work to make any progress.
All we need now is a bit of wind to fill up the corries and gullies and some of thaw and freeze to consolidate the snow. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the weather gods are on our side this winter.
I also managed to try out my new Scarpa Ribelle Lite HD boots and they are fantastic to walk in and unbelievably light.
