Last weekend we had some pretty strong winds in the hills, which made the course a little more tricky to run. However, we managed to fit it all in. On Saturday we went up the ski area at Coire Cas and went through all the walking, cutting steps, kicking step, crampons and avalanche awareness bits of the course. The gusting wind made it a challenge at time and there was no possibility to have a relaxed lunch break anywhere.
On Sunday it was still very windy and we found a patch of snow with the right angle to do the sliding, tripping and slipping part of the course. The frequent heavy rain showers we had and the sliding down on wet snow meant that we where soaking wet by early afternoon. So we decided to do a bit of navigation theory over a coffee in Aviemore.
